This week, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee approved the vineyards of Burgundy and the Champagne region of France as World Heritage Sites. They noted the regions’ unique soil types and fermentation methods. France now boasts 41 sites on the Heritage list, including the Saint-Emilion vineyards in Bordeaux. We’ll toast to that!

We have a new design from Pimpernel! It is called Parisian Scene.

This very Parisian set of placemats is as durable as it is beautiful. Pimpernel’s superior quality placemats (and coasters) use a thick board which is topped with a unique art print and is totally sealed with a high quality lacquer finish that is both stain and heat resistant. It is then finished with a hard wearing cork back to protect precious furniture.

Placemats come in a set of 4, and are 15 1/2 x 11 1/2″. Each placemat in the set is the same image.

Je suis Charlie

We are very saddened by the events that recently took place in Paris. It touched France deeply, as most of us who grew up there are familiar with Charlie Hebdo. One of the victims, Cabu, has been a popular cartoonist for over 50 years, and generations of French people have been entertained by his particular brand of humor. We extend our sympathy to the families and friends of the victims, and hope this senseless act will never happen again. It was wonderful to see over three million people assemble in Paris, we wish we could have been there. We are all Charlie!
